The keynote opens with CEO Sam Altman introducing 'dots', a fundamental transformation in AI software from simple virtual assistants to autonomous, always-on agents powered by the Astra model. Dots can handle multi-step projects, operate custom cloud browsers, write and test code, and communicate via text or voice call.
OpenAI introduced 'ChatGPT Space', a collaborative environment where human teams and AI dots work together on living documents, dynamic charts, and presentations. Presenter Hawley demonstrated how her personal dot ('Dottie') proactively updates calendars, reviews pull requests, creates FAQs, manages project dependencies, and converts mobile mockups into running code via local simulators.
Altman showcased enterprise 'Specialist Dots' designed for roles in accounting, legal, and ticket resolution, along with Microsoft integration into Agent 365. On the model front, OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Sol—delivering near-Astra level capability at a fifth of the price with a 95% discount on cached inputs—and 'Ultrafast' mode, which accelerates model outputs to 300 tokens per second.
Further demonstrations highlighted Codex running fully in the cloud, real-time 3D world creation, bidirectional voice in the Codex CLI, and Astra controlling web browser applications and physical micro-robotics. Finally, OpenAI launched the OpenAI Marketplace, enabling enterprise customers to spend existing OpenAI commitments on third-party software products.
